Welcome from our Head:
It is a real privilege to extend a very warm welcome to Burgess Hill School for Girls, a truly remarkable, happy and vibrant school in every possible way. So much takes place on a daily basis that it is almost impossible to get a true flavour of the character and infectious quality of this wonderful school by simply reading about it. Therefore, I do urge you to come and sample in person all that is on offer.
At Burgess Hill School all our girls are truly valued for who they are, for the wonderful gifts and talents they possess and for what they can give to the wider community. It is a happy, caring, friendly and supportive environment and is proactive in enabling every girl to flourish, excel and reach their full potential. The school is filled with pupils who enjoy learning and aim to be the best they can be.
Burgess Hill School has a widely accepted reputation for excellence in education. Very high standards are set academically, in sport, the arts and in the personal lives of every girl. Our girls experience an environment in which they can develop their confidence and independence, enabling and encouraging them to be themselves and where no barriers exist that prevent them from being who they want to be.
We firmly believe that every member of our community is important. Our girls feel sufficiently comfortable to take risks and are keen and willing to be stretched and challenged. The size of the school is such that it is large enough to provide a wealth of opportunities, both academically and in the diverse co-curricular and extra-curricular programme, but it is also small enough to ensure no girl goes unnoticed.
The support offered to our girls encourages them to look after each other, to listen to each other's needs and to look for the good in everyone. The girls are self-aware and have self-worth. Therefore our girls develop into thoughtful and successful young women. They leave their school with a sense of hope for the future, a positive outlook and a desire to go that extra mile.
To fully appreciate what is special about Burgess Hill School for Girls you really need to visit us and talk to the girls and staff. Please do come and see for yourself - we will be delighted to show you all that we have to offer.
I very much look forward to meeting you.
With all good wishes,
Mrs Kathryn Bell
