The Lower Sixth Life Skills Course enables the students to develop and polish some of the skills they will need to manage student life and beyond. The dynamic and stimulating programme, delivered by enthusiastic staff, includes sessions on basic first aid, self catering, self defence and basic car maintenance, including learning how to change a wheel. Health education issues are covered by a team of outside experts and there are also opportunities for team work, problem solving and the development of presentation skills. In the second half of the year there is a greater focus on providing the necessary support for Higher Education applications.

Undoubtedly the most unique feature of the course is the popular and challenging overnight hike to Beachy Head. Taking place as close to the longest day as possible, the event entails the students setting off at dusk and literally racing the sun with the aim of reaching Beachy Head and a hearty breakfast before sunrise.
