Pupils, governors and staff at Burgess Hill School for Girls were joined by a Chemistry TV star to celebrate the official opening of two state-of-the-art Chemistry laboratories on Tuesday 9th March.
Dr Sosabowski, of the University of Brighton, was the guest of honour and cut the ribbon to open the laboratories after staging his exhilarating The Bigger Bang Show! complete with Chemiluminescence, explosions, and flying rockets in the school hall.
Dr Sosabowski is well known from ITV's Saturday morning children's programme Ministry of Mayhem in which he regularly appeared to demonstrate exciting chemistry experiments.
He has also been running Dr Hal's Ministry of Chemistry travelling road show since 1995, starring as the TV professor Dr Hal with his hapless sidekick Dave "Sideshow" Campbell.
Dr Sosabowski also invented the commercial card game Chemistry Trumps which is now sold by stax-o-facts Ltd. and won him the University of Brighton Innovation Award in 2003.

The two new school laboratories at Burgess Hill School for Girls are large and spacious and incorporate separate teaching and experimental areas. Each teaching section is equipped with a Smartboard, multi-media centre, library and movable desks to allow different arrangements for incorporating activities such as role plays and debates.
Each practical-based section consists of a teacher's demonstration bench, whiteboard, wall storage cabinets and cupboards. There is also a double fume cupboard with two large benches providing twelve individually equipped work stations with gas, electricity and sinks.
Head of Chemistry Sue Lympany commented; "The teachers, technicians and pupils are thrilled to have lessons in such well designed and purpose built laboratories which cater for teaching from Year 7 to Sixth Form classes."
The Sixth Form students tested out the new labs after the official opening by holding workshops with the younger students on how to make scented bath salt bombs.
Headmistress, Ann Aughwane, said "At a time when investment in science in the UK is in the news it is particularly pleasing that the school, with the support of its Governing body, has been able to invest in promoting high quality science education."
