A pupil at Burgess Hill School for Girls encouraged the Junior School pupils to celebrate 100 years of the Girl Guide movement by attending school in their Guide uniforms.
Lexie Chadd, Year 4, asked Miss Fulleylove, Head of Junior School, if the school might celebrate the occasion on World Thinking Day, Monday 22nd February.
Members of the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides wore their uniforms proudly throughout the day and the theme was even incorporated into lessons.
The special treat of the day was being invited to see the camp blanket that Year 1 teacher, Mrs Riddle, brought in from her days as a Guide. On it were an amazing collection of Guide and Scout badges from all over the world, which she discussed with the girls who went home inspired to achieve more of their own badges.
World Thinking Day was set up by the World Association for Girl Guides and Girls Scouts (WAGGGS) and is celebrated around the world every year with fundraising events. The theme for 2010 was ending extreme poverty and hunger.
