Three pupils from Burgess Hill School for Girls learned the skills of Silversmithing when they were invited to a workshop at St Paul’s Catholic College in Burgess Hill.
The Year 10 pupils, who are all studying Design and Technology at GCSE level, spent a morning learning how to make jewellery. They used Copper and Gilding Metal and were taught by members of a teaching college from Brighton University.
Ms. Noda, the Technology Technician at Burgess Hill School for Girls said “They were very interested in what was going on and attempted most tasks set for them, which included using various equipment that was especially made available.”
Mr David Edwards, a technology teacher at Burgess Hill School for Girls, commented; “When the girls returned from their experience they wereso appreciative of this great opportunity, not only increasing their Resistant Materials skills and knowledge, butalso giving valuable experience of working alongside and with complete strangers. They also had to finish a whole project in a comparably short fixed period of time.”
