Three pupils from Burgess Hill School for Girls are heading to the National Finals of the ESU Schools Public Speaking Competition after winning the South East Area Final on Thursday 11th March.
After a tightly fought competition held at Dartmouth House in London, involving six other area finalists from the whole of the South East, Burgess Hill School for Girls emerged as the winners.
Elizabeth Cody gave a spirited speech on the introduction of a new form of National Service and she was very capably supported by Madeleine Whelan as Questioner and Rowena Henley as Chair.
Special congratulations go to Rowena who was judged the best Chair of the competition.
The girls earned their place in the event after winning the Brighton, Hove & District Branch Final last month. They will now go on to represent the South East in the National Finals to be held at The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, London on Friday 23rd April.
