Fair Trade Fortnight in Burgess Hill involved around 200 children from every school and college in the town. Two pupils from Burgess Hill School for Girls reported on their role in the event.
During the evening of Wednesday 24th February 2010, a group of Year 6 girls from Burgess Hill School for Girls met at St Paul’s Catholic College to celebrate Fair Trade Fortnight.
We performed a dance accompanied to music from The Lion King. Each of us played the part of an African animal; there were lions, flamingos, zebras, gazelles, cheetahs, giraffes and monkeys, as well as a group of explorers.
Greer Williams, a Burgess Hill School Sixth Form pupil choreographed our dance and provided us with some amazing costumes. We rehearsed during our lunch breaks and Greer kindly gave up her time to teach us the movements for our dance.
Many primary schools in Burgess Hill took part and they all performed stunning dances and songs.
We would like to thank Greer for teaching us such a fabulous dance and to our Music teacher Mrs Playford for organising this wonderful experience for us.
