The Burgess Hill School for Girls Under-13 Netball Team has been in fine form over recent weeks and has just won gold at the Sussex Independent Schools Championships.
The Championships were held at East Grinstead Sports Club. In a round robin format, the girls played some excellent netball throughout the day and beat Mayfield, Brighton and Hove High, Roedean, Hurst and St Bedes. They also drew with Brighton College and finished as the Sussex Independent Schools Champions.
Three days later they met Brighton College in the County Knockout Finals, which was once again a very close encounter. Since September the girls have played consistently well in all of the earlier rounds, beating all the teams in West Sussex.
In the final, the girlsworked tirelessly for the team, passing and moving the ball up the court effortlessly. However, time was not on their side and they went down 25 - 21. Head of P.E., Suzy Clapp, commended the team saying this is an excellent achievement.
