At the beginning of the Easter holiday Burgess Hill School had their annual ski trip. About 30 girls, ranging from Year 7 to Sixth Form, took part.
We had all been counting down the days until the trip and everyone was very excited. Wearing the blue ski trip hoodies we boarded the coach to Gatwick Airport. Everyone was very relieved that our flight had not been cancelled by the strikes! After we checked in, we wandered around the shopping area before heading in the direction of our flight.
The flight was around two hours and finally we reached Venice. Seeing Venice from the air was one of the best things about the trip! It looked like lots of little islands strung together by bridges which, I suppose in a way it is.
Once in Venice we took a coach to our hotel in Civetta, Italy. The coach journey was very boring and by the time we got there I didn't think I could listen to 'One Million Green Bottles' ever again!
Civetta is a small town hidden in the Alps. The thing I loved most about our hotel was the balcony; the view was just so beautiful! Every morning we would take our skis and boots and head up the mountain on the gondola. Then we would ski for two hours, down a run or maybe the nursery slope, and then have lunch, which was usually amazing! After that we would ski for another two or three hours before heading back for dinner. Usually, after dinner we would have an evening activity. My favourite evening activity was night skiing! It was so beautiful flying down the slopes in almost complete darkness, and when it started snowing the snow reflected off the moon and it looked like lots of little pieces of light were falling to earth.
