The Junior and Intermediate athletics teams from Burgess Hill School for Girls took part in the Sussex Round of the English Schools Track and Field Cup Competition, held at K2, Crawley.

Fifteen schools entered the competition, with each athlete competing in two events. There were some excellent performances throughout the day, with a special mention to Claudia James in the 200 metres and Olivia Harding in the High Jump.

The Junior team, which comprises Year 7 and 8 girls, finished in first place with 323 points, 20 points clear of second place Cardinal Newman.

The Intermediate age group also finished in first place scoring 295 points, 8 points clear of Cardinal Newman.

Both teams will now go on to represent Sussex at the Regional Finals, held in June, which is an excellent achievement.
