As part of the Keep Britain Tidy initiative, the Junior School Eco Committee at Burgess Hill School for Girls joined forces and went to battle with litter on St George's Day.
On Friday 23rd April the committee members showed they cared about their country by organising a special St George's Day tidy up.
Dressed in distinctive green tabards and armed with litter-picking sticks, the girls heartily embraced the opportunity to demonstrate how easy it is to look after your local area.
"I was surprised at how much rubbish we found"
Olivia, Year 5
"It was so much fun using the litter-picking sticks!"
Emma, Year 6
"Most of the litter was small bits of plastic, although we found a few drink cartons and tins too"
Lucy, Year 6
All members of the school community are passionate about keeping the local area litter free.
