Pupils in Year 2 at Burgess Hill School for Girls enjoyed a morning of designing and making pizzas at Pizza Express in Haywards Heath as part of their Science topic on 'Health and Growth'.
Everyone was invited to try some unusual pizza toppings including anchovies, artichokes, capers and spicy peppers.
"I loved the salty capers," said pupil Juliette Browning "but I only knew their name in French!"
Mrs Pearson, Deputy Head of the Junior School said, "We think that it is important that the girls learn that no foods are 'bad' and that moderation is key for a healthy and balanced diet."
The girls were delighted with the pizzas which they then enjoyed at lunchtime, accompanied by a healthy salad.
Year 2 had an oppotunity to cook pizzas at Pizza Express in Haywards Heath on Wednesday 6th October.
