The inspiration behind a whole new competition publicising the Brighton Festival Fringe came from an evocative little sketch by a Year 6 pupil at Burgess Hill School for Girls. The art work, in the style of that saucy seaside artist, Beryl Cook, caught the attention of the Fringe Festival organizers, and this new competition was launched. Children across the area are being invited to submit their own designs to publicise this exciting event. Burgess Hill School for Girls will certainly be taking part.
The winning design will be up on the Fringe website, which had over 1 million hits in 2006, and other prizes will also be announced. The competition is designed to encourage young people to get excited about the Fringe and to be aware of this huge event coming to Brighton in May, where there is something for everyone, including theatre, films, musicals, literature and comedy.
