The Textiles department at Burgess Hill School for Girls recently took part in the highly popular ‘Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts Fair' held at the Brighton Centre from 9-11th February. Many enthusiasts visited the exhibition and were very impressed with the standard of work produced by the girls. Textiles at the school is increasing in popularity; the items on display showed the wide range of projects studied by the girls, from felt panels and denim cushions, to pyjamas and dresses and even a beautiful costume for Ruby the Red Fairy, an elaborate outfit inspired by ballet. Visitors to the stand were all very complimentary about the exhibits, and several wanted to purchase items on display, such was the standard of work achieved by the girls.
Textiles is part of the curriculum from Year 7 with the option to further the subject at GSCE and A Level. All Year 6 girls also enjoy a taster day each year.
