The Lower Sixth Economics and Business Studies students from Burgess Hill School for Girls have just returned from a study tour to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the culture of this EU accession country and find out how business people and organisations are adjusting to the new economic environment. The four day tour also included a full range of activities, from museums and sightseeing in the snow to a chocolate workshop.
The educational highlight of the trip was a business seminar where the girls heard speakers from the UK embassy and local entrepreneurs presenting their experiences of running businesses in Estonia. It was really interesting for the girls to hear about how Estonia has embraced E-commerce and also the problems encountered by UK business people due to the different styles and methods of communication.
Jane King, Head of Economics and Business Studies said, “The trip was a resounding success with just the right balance between work and leisure. The girls had enough time to visit other attractions according to their interests, braving the cold, snowy weather to sample delights such as the Museum of Occupation and local shops, cafes and markets.”
