As part of the centenary celebrations Mr. Raymond Avery was invited to come and talk to the girls in Year 1 about being a gardener at the school. Mr. Avery was the gardener for 36 years, retiring in the 1980’s, and during that time had seen many changes taking place. He brought in photographs and slides for the girls to see which showed the development of the school. They loved hearing about his cat and how she used to catch mice and put them into his slippers! They were fascinated hearing about the flowers and fruit that he used to grow at school and they also discovered that Mr. Avery’s favourite flower is a yellow rose!
