The AS Level Art group, newly returned from their study leave, were given the opportunity to refresh their creative skills with an alfresco action painting session.

The girls were given the task of producing a set of large, bright canvases to be displayed in the Dining Hall and were shown examples of techniques and styles to inspire them.

The process was spontaneous (and messy)! So it was fortunate that the timing coincided with a spell of bright, sunny weather which allowed the whole art studio to go 'alfresco' for the expressive splatter work required.

The girls carefully placed themselves with enough space around them so their animated paint work was not a threat to others!

Mrs Carruthers praised the girls enthusiasm; "The project was designed to get the girls thinking creatively and to do something a little different; we considered anything Jackson Pollock could do, so could we. In just the space of a week everyone completed a large painting in a style and technique completely new to them."

Some of the girls' artwork has now been sold to staff, governors and parents to raise money for the Margaret Morris Memorial Challenge.  If you would like to purchase a painting, including having one commisioned in the colours that you prefer, please click here to read more.
