Year 2 enjoyed a day as Victorian school girls to celebrate the end of their History topic about Life before electricity'.
The first lesson of the day consisted of a spelling test, followed by formal handwriting. Girls were then asked to recite their multiplication tables before completing a full slate of addition calculations.
The physical education for the day comprised of strict instruction from Mrs Pearson and Mrs Riddle with regard to deportment. Exemplary behaviour was required throughout the day for fear of wearing the infamous Dunce's hat!
In the afternoon, all Infant classes were invited to visit the Year 2 Victorian Museum, where the girls had produced labels and acted as guides.
The girls were then treated to a visit by Grandma Coates (Emily Coates' grandma), who brought in a selection of antiques including Victorian linen, photographs, dolls and books.
Mrs Pearson, a Year 2 Teacher and Deputy Head of the Junior School said, "We try to use as many real artefacts as we can, to give the girls a hands-on and memorable experience of their History topics."
"Life was hard before we had electricity, but it was fun pretending for a day!" Charlotte Fallon, 2TP
