Robyn to Perform Poem at Brit Writers Awards

Email a FriendPrint this page

Last July, Robyn Lacey was invited to write and perform a poem at the first Brit Writers Unpublished Awards ceremony held at the O2 in London.

She had entered the competition but missed the closing date but the judges were so impressed with her entries that they contacted her and asked her to write a poem especially for the Awards on the theme of the creative writing process.

She wrote 'The Word Weed' and performed it alongside several well-known spoken word poets including David J and Don Shahada. The ceremony was held in front of an audience of finalists and invited celebrities like Sir Terry Pratchett. So well-received was her performance that this year they have invited her back to perform again, this time with David J himself.

This year's ceremony will be held at the London Aquariam on 7th October and to make the evening even more special Robyn has since discovered she has been shortlisted as one of five finalists in the under 16 age group from tens of thousands of entries.
