Burgess Hill School for Girls teams triumphed at the Sussex round of the Track and Field Schools Cup.

The competition, run by the English Schools Athletic Association, was held at Lewes Priory School. In a day full of high quality athletics, both Junior and Senior Intermediate teams from Burgess Hill competed against fourteen other schools from all areas of the county.

All competitors were required to compete in two events and the Burgess Hill Girls Junior Team gave some outstanding performances finishing in first place with a massive total of 353 points, 24 clear of their nearest rivals, Mayfield. The Intermediate team with a series of strong performances throughout the day gained 332 points and were placed third behind Helenswood and Imberhorne.

Congratulating the athletes, Suzy Clapp of the school's Physical Education Department said, "I am delighted that both Burgess Hill School teams will now represent Sussex at the regional finals in mid June."
