On Thursday 29th March, parents at Burgess Hill School for Girls were treated to an evening of superb music. The annual Spring Concert kicked off with the orchestra’s performance of Grieg’s “Symphonic Dance” and Dvorak’s “Waltz in A”. The first half progressed with a variety of solos, duets and ensemble pieces such as Schubert’s “Marche Militaire.” After the interval, the audience particularly enjoyed the performance of “Hello Dolly” by the Jazz Band and a spectacular rendition on the xylophone of “Black and White Rag” by a year 10 pupil. The three choirs treated the audience to songs from “Fiddler on the Roof”, “West Side Story” and “My Fair Lady.” The evening drew to a close with rousing performances of Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Serenade” and “Chattanooga Choo Choo” by the orchestra.
The whole evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved and provided an excellent showcase for the many talented musicians at the school.
