On Wednesday 28th March the Junior School at Burgess Hill School for Girls was visited by four members of the ‘Image Musical Theatre Company.’ The girls were asked by the company to support them in their production of the original version of ‘The Jungle Book,’ with only 30 minutes rehearsal time! The whole of the Junior School was involved, some as lion cubs, monkeys and deer, and the others as the very loud but musical chorus. During the rehearsals the selected animals were sent off to put on costume and learn their parts whilst the rest of the girls learnt their songs and actions. Then the Image Musical Theatre actors played the characters of Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera and Shere Kan and involved the girls throughout the actual performance.
The afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by all the Junior School girls and staff. Everyone was amazed that they could be part of such an excellent performance after such a short rehearsal time!
