On Wednesday 6th June, 35 girls from Year 5 at Burgess Hill School for Girls performed a special lunchtime concert in the Martlets Shopping Centre in Burgess Hill to show their support for the Burgess Hill Town Festival. Morwenna Hocken and Antoinette Tuckwell started the concert with a wonderful violin duet, playing a lively Irish jig. This was followed by a medley of well-known songs from musicals such as Oliver, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Annie and Mary Poppins.
The catchy tunes, along with the beautiful singing, made many a lunchtime shopper stop and listen, while others could not resist joining in. One shopper, here on holiday from Wales, commented. "It's so nice to see these lovely young girls enjoying their singing so much. What a lovely end to my fortnight here."
