I knew staying on into the Sixth Form would be the best option for me. I’ve been at the school since Year 3 and when it came to making my final decision, I knew I couldn’t leave.  One of the key factors in my decision to stay on for another two years was that I know I will receive a high level of support when it comes to making my final decision for university. Also, the encouragement and advice I have received from the teachers throughout my time at Burgess Hill helped me achieve my potential in both GCSEs and AS levels.  The Sixth Form has enabled me to stay within the homely community of the school, but at the same time provide the separation to enable me to get the sense of college life and feel a sense of independence from being in the Senior School, therefore preparing me for university.

When I was looking at other colleges to go to after Year 11, I realised that the Sixth Form here would be the best choice for me. Since I began here in Year 8, my confidence has increased and I knew that for me to achieve the best possible results in my A-levels, I should stay on for another two years. My GCSE years brought out the best in my ability, with the help of the positive encouragement by staff and friends. I hope to look back at the end of the two years in the Sixth Form and be able to say the same thing.

Staying at Burgess Hill for Sixth Form was one of the easiest and best decisions I have ever made. There was never even the smallest element of doubt in my mind, from the moment I joined the school in Year 9, that I would finish my school education here – I instantly felt accepted and happy. On the academic side, I always felt comfortable, knowing the school’s fantastic reputation, that I would achieve everything I ever hoped. My GCSE results were beyond my wildest dreams, and so much of that is down to the community I am so lucky to be established at Burgess Hill, from my teachers to my friends. The Sixth Form is obviously different to the Senior School, and provides that necessary step up, supplying an excellent transitional passage through to higher education. I have continued to fulfil and exceed my academic ambitions and have also been presented with a multitude of new extra-curricular activities and openings – for example, I participated in the Young Enterprise scheme, and I am a Deputy Editor of the School Magazine. These opportunities have taught me new skills and improved some attributes I already possessed, making me a far more rounded person, with much greater prospects for the future than I believe I could ever have achieved elsewhere.
