On Saturday 7th July Burgess Hill School for Girls hosted a hugely successful Family Fun Day in their grounds, raising money for the very deserving cause of the Sussex Air Ambulance. 1300 visitors attended the spectacular event which had an array of activities on offer for all ages.
For the children there were bouncy castles, mega slides, carousels, archery, laser quest, and a climbing wall and abseil tower. For the adults there was a large and varied craft fayre with over forty stands which was a great crowd pleaser. DJ Chris Copsey and the Southern FM Road Runners and Albion in the Community were also present throughout the day and the Burgess Hill Marching Youth band made a welcome appearance.
Amazing raffle prizes were on offer, such as a signed football and shirt from Brighton and Hove Albion, tickets to see McFly, vouchers for local leisure amenities and the star prize of a helicopter ride for up to 4 people.
The School had prepared a Creative Showcase for the afternoon which consisted of drama, music and a fashion show which was a very entertaining part of the day.
For those Wimbledon fans who didn’t want to miss the Ladies’ Final a large plasma screen was put up in the grounds to show the game.
To end the day the School welcomed current pupil and ITV’s ‘Grease is the word’ contestant Lauren and her on screen partner Bradley to perform on stage. It was an amazing way to finish the day and brought the whole crowd together.
The atmosphere throughout the event was fantastic; it was certainly a day of smiles all round. The weather also contributed to the success of the event, being the first sunny day in Burgess Hill for quite some time!
The School would like to thank all the individuals, organisations and businesses who helped to make this event such a roaring success and raise money for this very worthwhile charity.
