Following the successful hatching of their class butterflies, the Penguins Reception Class at Burgess Hill School for Girls enjoyed dressing up as butterflies for the day. Just after the May half term, tiny caterpillars arrived at school and the children were able to watch them, at close hand, change into a chrysalis and then hatch into Painted Lady butterflies. They were set free in the grounds of the school and the delighted girls watched them flying away to begin the cycle all over again.
The girls looked fabulous in their chosen outfits and enjoyed making collage butterflies and other activities. They ended the day with a picnic which included 'butterfly' cakes that they had made themselves.
