Eleven year old Jennifer Coppinger, from Burgess Hill School for Girls, was highly commended recently for her imaginative and evocative poem on the theme of environmental awareness by a panel of national judges including Jonathan Porritt, Phil Woolas MP and the author Bill Laar.  Bill Laar commented on Jennifer's talent for writing poetry stating that she showed 'Marvellous and mature control of an intricate piece of writing.  A highly promising poet.' Jennifer was awarded a book token together with the promise that her poem will be included in a collection to be published following this National Poetry competition.
