A group of GCSE and AS Level students from Burgess Hill School for Girls has just returned from their week long visit to Cáceres in Spain. The trip was organised by the Spanish department and was the fifth exchange which has taken place between Burgess Hill School for Girls and the Colegio Internacional San Jorge in Cáceres.
The girls escaped the grey skies of England for a week of unbroken sunshine and hot weather. As usual, the students were paired with students at the Spanish school and enjoyed the warm hospitality of their host families. Excursions included a visit to the stunning Roman town of Merida and the extraordinary museum of Contemporary Art opened by the German artist, Wolf Vostell, very near the Spanish school.
Words such as “awesome” and “fantastic” were used to describe the trip and the girls all agreed that their experience had given them an insight into Spanish culture, improved their Spanish and enabled them to make some good friends. “We can’t wait for them to come over to England in February, we’ve got so much we want to do” sums up the general feeling.
