Burgess Hill School for Girls’ U16 Hockey Team represented Sussex at the South Round of the National Schools’ Hockey Tournament held at Surbiton Hockey Club. The girls showed tremendous character throughout the day, showing a high level of skill and excellent team play. After a nervous start, in which they lost their first game, the girls relaxed and played some superb hockey beating Teddington School 3-1, St Edward’s 1-0, Aylesbury High 2-0, Portsmouth Grammar 2-1 and drawing 0-0 with Wellington. The teams gained 13 points and were joint winners with Kingston Grammar, but unfortunately they fell one goal short on goal difference. It was an outstanding team effort and the girls finished with second place in the South of England.
