For the second year running, Burgess Hill School for Girls took part in the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts Fair held at the Brighton Centre from 8th - 10th February. A wide range of projects were exhibited at the show from felt panels and denim cushions to tops and dresses, all showing the scope of the skills and creativity achieved by the girls in Textiles Technology at the School. There was an extra element this year, with a demonstration of felt making by Year 6 girls who each created a fun sweet shape based on this year’s Candy Store theme. Regular enthusiasts of the show were very keen to get involved, joining in the activity and helping to unroll the final pieces. The general consensus from everybody was we should keep up the great work! The visitors were impressed that traditions such as felt making, beading and sewing were being kept alive and to such a high standard. Another popular element of the show included the recycling project with beaded jewellery made from used sweet wrappers and beads. Several visitors asked to purchase items on display, such was the standard of work achieved by the girls.
