On the 20th of March a group from Burgess Hill School for Girls set off on an Art and Classics trip to Greece. Having arrived at the hotel, we deposited our bags and got ready for a walking tour of Athens with our newly introduced tour director, Lyn. The weather was very warm and we saw some of the famous sights, including the temple of Zeus and the Syntagma Square.
The next day, we set out to see the Olympic stadium, the Acropolis, a pottery museum and some shops. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day. That night we went to a charming taverna and enjoyed a wonderful ‘Greek Night’. We ate Greek food, watched traditional Greek dances and even joined in on stage.
The following day we travelled onwards by coach to Delphi, which was beautiful; it was the perfect day to go as all the flowers were in bloom and the sun was shining brightly. Over the next few days, we continued on our journey around the Peloponnese Peninsula, visiting Olympia, the site of the ancient Olympic Games, Epidauros, Mycenae and the Corinth Canal.

We spent our final day back in Athens, enjoying the sites and the lovely weather, going to a quaint café that we had visited earlier in the week and getting some all important shopping done. On the 25th of March we said a sad farewell to Lyn, who had travelled with us the entire time, and returned home to England. It was a wonderful trip and we would like to thank our teachers for organising such a brilliant experience for us.
