Following the tradition of having celebratory cakes to mark special occasions, all the students and staff at Burgess Hill School for Girls recently enjoyed cutting into a 4 tier cake as part of the many activities to mark the School Centenary this year.
The sponge cake was made by Viv Lobo, the Catering Manager and marked the closing stages of the many activities the School has undertaken to celebrate 100 years of being in Burgess Hill. The event was all the more poignant as Mrs. Lobo retired a few days later after ten years at the School. She will be remembered particularly for special treats like these or special moments in the School calendar.
The cake was cut by the Head Girl and Mrs. Lobo, watched on by Mrs. Aughwane, Headmistress and students.
The final stage of the celebrations is a Centenary Concert which will take place in December at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill.
