On Wednesday 21st May the Infants at Burgess Hill School for Girls presented a lively concert to their parents under the direction of their music teacher, Lynne Haslam. A wide variety of music was enjoyed by all, including a mini-musical about the life cycle of the frog called Tadpole Rag, performed by the Pandas and Penguins reception classes and narrated by Year 2, a Year 1 adaptation of the Grimms’ fairytale, The Fisherman’s Wife, and an early acquisition of musical skills demonstration from Year 2.
The Year 2 girls began by playing three short pieces on their recorders. This was followed by several lovely performances on the piano, some singing and a selection of pieces from the Suzuki violin group, which has only been learning to play the violin since last September. The highlight of the afternoon was an impressive performance by Amy Lovejoy in Year 2, who played the First Movement from a Violin Concerto by Kuchler; Amy has recently been awarded a Music Scholarship into Year 3. Well done to everyone taking part and to Mr. Haslam for his sensitive piano accompaniment.
