Junior School Inter-House Winners' Concert

Each year the Junior School Inter-House Music Festival at Burgess Hill School for Girls showcases the musical talents of a very large proportion of our Junior School community from Years 3 to 6. Mrs Julie Playford, Head of Junior School Music, was delighted when over one hundred girls entered the annual competition, each representing their School House in a bid to win the trophy.

Eleven different musical instruments were played throughout the day, and there were also impressive solo singing performances. Watched by their peers and parents who dropped in at different times of the day to enjoy the instrumental classes, the girls' talents and skills were enjoyed by everyone. Richard Haslam, the school's Director of Music, was the adjudicator for the event and commented on the amazingly high standard of many of the classes and the very high number of entries.

The musicians who gained first place in their classes were invited to play in the special Winners' Concert on June 10th, organized by Julie Playford. In amongst the winning solos there were excellent performances by our Junior School Orchestra, Suzuki strings group, woodwind group, flute ensemble and brass ensemble.
