Year 8 students at Burgess Hill School for Girls have been working hard on an exciting ICT project, namely filming a potential promotional advert for the School. The aim of the advert is to promote the Design and Technology Jewellery work that was exhibited at School and at the 2008 Creative Crafts and Hobbycrafts Fair in Brighton.
Students learnt to design and create their own Pewter Jewellery in Resistant Materials lessons and Jewellery Storage cases as part of the Textiles lessons. In the ICT classes the students worked as a group to produce an advert to promote sales of the items they produced.
They worked on the production of the film from start to finish. This provided the students with an opportunity to further develop their problem solving, reasoning and negotiation skills. For the film production the girls produced a storyboard to create a suitable storyline for each frame. They filmed and then edited the film sections using their software and media skills. A great deal of fun was had whilst mastering their craft.
