Last February, eighty two students from Years 9, 10 and 11 entered the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, a national competition organised by the UK Mathematics Trust. More than half of the School’s entrants were awarded certificates, eight of which were gold awards, seventeen were silver and eighteen were bronze awards. Two girls in Year 10 did so well that they qualified for the next level, an international Maths competition called the Kangaroo.
In April, fifty nine students from Years 7 and 8 entered the Junior Mathematical Challenge. They were awarded an amazing forty certificates between them, three of which were gold. Four girls were selected to represent the School at the UK Team Challenge, at which they participated in mathematical relay races.
