On Tuesday 24th June, a group from Year 8 in Burgess Hill School for Girls performed a routine to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. It was a way of saying thank you to Katie Thomson, an Upper Sixth student who led the Dance Club in School over the last two years. The girls had rehearsed hard for 5 weeks, in their lunch breaks, to perfect the dance. They tackled difficult choreography with enthusiasm and energy, despite some girls not having previous formal dance training.
They rose to the occasion, dancing with precision and animation. The dancers took on the roles of zombies and ghouls rising from the dead, which was helped by dramatic makeup and home-made costumes! The group received a well deserved applause as they took their bow. They had a huge adrenalin rush and came off stage buzzing with excitement! The dancers then gave a second performance at the Creative Arts’ Evening at the end of term. “We hope the dance has inspired other girls throughout school to come and join us in dance club next year”.
