On Monday 15th September a group boys from local schools were invited to attend a free street dance workshop held by Burgess Hill School for Girls in order to promote dance, particularly street dance, among boys in the local area.
The whole workshop was choreographed and run by Farouk Bhimji, a professional dancer and choreographer who has worked with some of the world's leading musical artists, from Justin Timberlake to Madonna. He said, "The workshop has been great fun and it has been fantastic to have so many enthusiastic and talented guys taking part". Emma Tarratt, Head of Drama at Burgess Hill School for Girls, who organised the event said, "It was incredible to see the transformation in the skills and confidence of the boys over the course of the workshop. Everyone involved had a really good time. It's definitely got to become an annual event!"
The workshop also saw the start of the production process for a hip hop and street dance production of Romeo & Juliet to be staged at Burgess Hill School for Girls in December.
