Traditional styled Russian dolls were used for the theme for a Textile Workshop held at Burgess Hill School for Girls on Saturday 27th September, to which girls from several schools in the area were invited.
After designing their doll, they all worked enthusiastically using brightly coloured felt, trimmings and beads to manufacture their fabric picture. The participants were all able to develop their skills in handling and cutting fabric and the girls said that it was also fun and a chance to make new friendships. Three of the Schools' Year 10 students assisted the girls and established a good rapport with the Year 6 girls.
Barbara Bradley who teaches Textile Technology at the School was very impressed with both the standard of work produced by the girls, and their willingness to give up time on a Saturday to learn new skills in design and Technology.
