On Tuesday 5th December the Martlets shopping Mall in Burgess Hill town centre rang with the sound of young voices singing Christmas carols. Hot on the hooves of winning the cup for Best School Choir in the recent Mid Sussex Music Festival, the Junior School of Burgess Hill School for Girls were in good voice again entertaining shoppers to an early touch of Christmas cheer and raising over £150 for Cancer Research UK.
The girls were delighted to support the Charity again this year and hope to make it an annual event. In the UK around 1,500 children are diagnosed with a childhood cancer each year but now more than seven out of ten children are successfully treated. Fenneke Fulleylove, Head of the Junior School said, “Several of our pupils have fought and beaten the disease, so it is a charity very close to our hearts, as it was to many of the generous town’s people who donated money so freely this lunchtime”.
