On Wednesday 20th September 2006, Burgess Hill School for Girls U13 Netball team took part in the annual Prep School Tournament held at Ardingly College and won the title. The standard of netball played was exceptionally high with 20 schools competing in the Sussex region.
In the group stage the girls beat St Bedes, Great Walstead and St Christopher’s and narrowly lost to Brighton. However, they went through as winners of their section and beat Ardingly 11-3 in the quarter - final and Handcross Park 6-4 in the semi-final to gain a place in the final.
The girls rose to the occasion in a tough contest beating Ashdowne House 7-4 to become Prep School Champions. The girls really enjoyed the day, the atmosphere and the spirited performance by all participants resulted in a truly memorable occasion.
