On 25th November 2008, the day began with the arrival of over a hundred Bob the Builders! The site was Little Oaks, the magnificent newly completed Infant and Nursery building at Burgess Hill School for Girls. Curtis Jobling, BAFTA award winner for his animation of Bob the Builder and author of Frankenstein's Cat, was the Guest of Honour. Also attending were Mr Thomas- Atkins, Chair of Burgess Hill Town Council and Mrs Margaret Hersey, Chair of Mid Sussex District Council, and the ex High Sheriff of West Sussex, Colin Field.
Our 100 miniature Bob the Builders were the children from Burgess Hill School's Nursery and Infant departments who, complete with their bright yellow hard hats, watched eagerly as the commemorative plaque, made by local stone letter carver, Helen Mary Skelton, was revealed.
To the delight of all the guests, Curtis Jobling created a range of his book characters before their eyes, including his famous cat. He made it look so easy, "I just start with two circles, add a tail and eight zigzags and there it is".

Many contractors who had worked on the project over the year joined in the celebrations and were delighted to see the final product. "It is great to be invited back to see what the building has become having worked on it for the last year, commented a representative from Rok. Projects such as this also demonstrate Rok's growing expertise in the education sector."
Parents joined staff and pupils for 'Open House' later in the afternoon to tour all the wonderful new facilities. The Nursery and Infant staff and the school's maintenance team had worked tirelessly over the last month getting the building ready and it positively sparkles with life and colour.
Little Oaks not only provides an impressive light, airy and versatile environment for our children but is also energy efficient and welcoming.
