The Senior School at Burgess Hill School for Girls have recently been filling shoeboxes for the charity ‘Samaritan’s Purse’. The mission is called ‘Operation Christmas Child’, and each tutor group was given a wrapped box with instructions for things to bring in for a girl of their age. They could also add a note about themselves and 10p to cover the postage. The girls donated some lovely thoughtful items, with some bringing in whole boxes themselves!
In total 32 boxes were delivered this week to St Andrew’s Church, Burgess Hill, the nearest drop-off point for this very worthwhile initiative.
Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian charity which exists to meet the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster through the delivery of practical every day items and necessities. In 2005, 1.18 million shoe boxes were distributed to needy children throughout the world.
