Students from Year 11 and the Lower Sixth from Burgess Hill School for Girls took park in a special carol service for the St Peter and St James Hopsice in Wivelsfield Green on Monday 4th December. The girls provided the musicians, gave the readings, and sang the carols, some of which included their own compositions. This was the first year that Burgess Hill School for Girls has participated in this service, and they hope to return in future years.
Community fundraiser Rosie Wyer gave the girls a tour of the hospice after the service. She was absolutely delighted to have the talented choir with them and commented how the patients and staff really enjoyed the afternoon.
St Peter and St James Hospice provides specialist in-patient care for those suffering from a life-limiting illness who are no longer responding to curative treatment. It receives just 13% of its money from government funding and must raise more than £1 million each year through a variety of fundraising activities.
