Email a FriendPrint this page

The pupils of Burgess Hill School for Girls gathered on the edge of their sports field to watch the annual tree planting ceremony.

Sixth Former Sophie Brammer spent her final year at the school carrying the prestigious responsibility of being Head Girl. On Tuesday 12th May she carried out her last official duty of the academic year by planting a tree in the school grounds. She was assisted by her two Deputy Head Girls, Emma Gadsden and Shrea Patel. The tree planting tradition began at the school 27 years ago and this year Sophie began what will become a line of Norway Maple trees that will surround the school sports field.

At the ceremony, Headmistress Ann Aughwane announced the names of the School Officers for the following academic year. Gwen Williams takes up the post of Head Girl, and is supported by Emma Bonney and Samantha Chandrasekera as her deputies. Georgina Ridler, Rhiannon Whelan, Alexandra Murray, Pollyanna Brackenbury, Elisa Fuller, Georgina Coad, Emily McKinnell-Merrett complete the School Officer team.
