Burgess Hill School for Girls held their second Carers' Day event on Thursday 22nd October.
The free event, which was organised with Burgess Hill Town Council and Friends of Carers,enabled members of the community who care for others, to come along to the school for a few hours of relaxation, pampering and entertainment.
The event was opened by the Burgess Hill Town Crier Neil Batsford and was well supported by local businesses who offered hairdressing, massage and colour consultation sessions.
Opening the event Neil Batsford announced the intentions of the day. “Carers, you provide the riches of care, love and companionship to individuals in need...but today is your turn, your pamper day.”
The carersand their relatives were given manicures by the studentsand offered the chance toplant bulbs, play Nintendo Wii console games andcreate their own fruit smoothies.A variety of support agencies were also on hand tooffer advice.
All visitors were given refreshments and a ploughman'slunch while beingentertained by music students.
The star raffle prizes included an overnight stay for two at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel, afternoon tea at the GrandHotel, Brighton, dinner for two at the Birch Hotel, Haywards Heath, and a round of golf for four at Mid Sussex Golf Club, Ditchling.
Everyone left feeling relaxed and praise was given to all the students who were paired up with carers throughout the day.
Neil Batsford summed up the event saying, “Students at Burgess Hill School for Girls are encouraged to reach out to the community and today provides a superb example of such involvement.”
