Burgess Hill School for Girls have reached the Regional Finals on the hockey field after taking part in the Sussex Round of the National Schools Hockey Tournament, held at Eastbourne College.
The top twelve hockey schools enter the competition with only the top two going on to represent Sussex at the South of England Round.
The Burgess Hill girls played superbly throughout the day, working hard for each other and playing some excellent attacking hockey. They finished as Runners Up to Seaford College which set them up against the winners of the other section, St Leonards–Mayfield.
The girls battled to the end, with a straight strike from Issy Gibson and sealed their place in the final of the Sussex Round.
In the final the girls met Seaford College again. Both sides were tiring and the score ended in a 1-1 draw.
Burgess Hill will now go forward to represent Sussex in the Regional Finals. Suzy Clapp, Head of P.E. said “This is an excellent achievement so far and the girls have been training hard over the last few weeks in preparation for the Regional Finals which will be held in Reading at the end of the month.”
