The Under 13 Tennis team at Burgess Hill School for Girls have spent eight months training and competing in the Aegon Team Tennis Competition.
The four tennis enthusiasts Isabel Basett, Amy Huyton-Taylor, Claudia James and Freya Loughton began the tournament in April and played superbly, winning all of their first round county matches and only conceding three games.
In the regional round the Burgess Hill team faced St Bedes and Sevenoaks and once again they showed off their strength and skill and finished as regional winners.
The National Quarter Finals took place on Monday 15th November against the tennis academy Queenswood School. P.E. teacher Mrs Emma Spyby described the team’s achievement, “The girls fought for every point and their determination and effort was fantastic to see. Unfortunately they lost out this time, but the girls did exceptionally well to reach this stage of the competition and they are looking forward to participating in 2010.”
