To achieve success and fulfilment in the future each individual needs much more than purely academic accomplishment. The Life Skills programme along with the wide range of extra curricular opportunities, addresses the development of key values and attributes. The programmes begin in Year 9. The emphasis differs according to the year group, but each programme is varied and dynamic, being facilitated by a combination of enthusiastic teachers and outside speakers and organisations.
The programme encourages girls to be:
-
informed, confident and organised
-
responsible, flexible and adaptable
-
considerate, sensitive and tolerant
The importance of a healthy lifestyle is stressed with excellent advice and guidance from health professionals incorporated into the programme each year.
The girls are also encouraged to consider the wider community, receiving talks from representatives from charity organisations and various religions. There are opportunities for the girls to interact with older members of the local community as they host tea parties at Christmas and in the summer.
Participation in the numerous activities strengthens communication and leadership skills alongside learning to be an effective member of a team.
The Life Skills programme promotes the ethos of learning for life not just for the moment.
