Students from Burgess Hill School for Girls won the 'Best Company' Award for their company Triango at the Young Enterprise Trade Fair 2009.
Ten companies from four local schools took part in the Trade Fair which was held at the Market Place Shopping Centre in Burgess Hill on Saturday 4th December. Triango was unanimously voted as the 'Best Company' by the judges.
The students set up Triango as a company that creates personalised items with Chinese calligraphy printed on them. The items are handcrafted by the girls and included seasonal gift and greetings cards which were popular with customers at the Fair.
Other schools that took part were Hurstpierpoint College, Warden Park School and Worth School. They sold products and services including Christmas gifts, greetings cards, homemade candles, calendars, photographs and T-shirts.
Mid Sussex District Council is the main sponsor and supporter of Young Enterprise in Mid Sussex and the companies were judged by Councillor Sophia Harrison, Vice Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council, Councillor Chris Thomas-Atkin, Chairman of Burgess Hill Town Council and Chris Goldfinch, Manager of the Market Place Shopping Centre.
Young Enterprise is a UK business and enterprise education charity offering programmes for school children of all ages. Their Company Programme is designed to show students how businesses are run by giving them the opportunity to set up their own company and sell their products to the public.
